Flannel Jacket – Effortless Styles

I bet you didn’t think you needed a flannel jacket. I mean you probably already have several basic flannels just hanging in your closet. But I am about to change your flannel game with this duster length, rustic colored, super soft with side slits….flannel jacket -ha. I mean just look at this perfect spring transition piece.

This new jacket of mine instantly became a favorite the moment I put it on. It is so soft, the pattern is the perfect size and the color goes with my closets color palate. The length is perfect for my height, standing at 5’8″, and the side slits add so much extra movement when walking. The sleeve length is also a hit for my long dangly arms. All the boxes were checked with this gem.

Look one:

I love the hippie vibes you get when you combine flannel and flares. Just add circle framed sunglasses and you just time traveled! The pants are very stretchy making them super comfortable. The flare is large and the length is long. If you are petite you will need larger heels and I recommend for everyone to size down one size. I ordered my original size and they still fit nicely, but with the amount of stretch along the waist I could have sized down. I purchased these flares from The Mint Julep. They have back pockets and a nice dark denim wash to them. I love the high waist and they are really affordable! Win win.

You can also see that I paired this with a basic white crop top, simple jewelry and a Vici hat to finish it off. The hat is one of my other favorites at this time. It’s great for spring weather and outfits. It really elevates a look and makes it look more complete or put together.

Look Two:

As much as I am loving the flared jeans look, I think this one takes the cake! Maybe it’s because I am missing warmer weather, maybe it’s because of the cool kid feels I’m getting when wearing it. I don’t know. What I do know is that I will wear this look on repeat as soon as the weather decides to warm up. I also know that I plan to buy more and more t-shirt dresses and make it apart of my weekly outfits.

The effort to achieving this look is minimal. T-shirt, shoes, and jacket and your out the door. Spice it up with a hat, some sunglasses, a cute crossbody bag. You will also see that I changed up the shoes three different way. My favorite pair for a more “going-out” look is the over the knee boot. They have a slight heel, they cover up a little more of your leg and they add a little bit of sexy to the look. The sneaker and combat boots are more casual and would make a perfect look for running errands or a brunch date.

Look Three:

Now let’s get creative with the next look! Here I took a dress, layered it with the same oversized t-shirt and switched out the shoe for fringe booties. I like mixing the textures of pleather, cotton and sparkle. The fringe shoes were my statement piece in the look, because DUH look at them! They’re so fun and so gorgeous. Then I decided to edge it up with pleather and dress it down with tying the tee into a knot and keeping the oversized look.

Since I didn’t have a faux leather skirt, I had to get creative and use a dress that I had in my closet. One thing I will always love about clothing or style is that there is always more than one way to use an article of clothing, even if it’s not how it was intended. Style is your sense of creativity being expressed through clothing and wearing it as if you are the canvas to show off your work.

Final Look

The final look I am going to show is very basic, very casual and very easy to achieve. Throw on a pair of your favorite black leggings, grab an oversize t-shirt or t-shirt dress, like I did here, front tuck and go! It’s up to you which shoe style you are feeling. I went for a comfortable black bootie with studded details on it to add a little something extra to the look.

Don’t forget your flannel jacket, sunnies and hat to top off the look. A cute dog like Winston for an accessory will guarente compliments and smiles from everyone you see.

I am in no way affilated or sponsored by any of these products. I’m just here spreading the love of some awesome pieces and hoping to inspire creativity into your outfits. If you like what you are seeing here, check out my other posts on how to style different looks. Not to mention bike shorts would look amazing under this oversized tee,  adding this jacket with combat boots! A great alternative if the tshirt dress is too short or you just want a little extra security! Check out my bike short post HERE.
